    Maybe because I started with Skagit and I'm not an awesome competition caster like Travis but I am in Tom Larimer's camp when it comes to anchor placement...works for me, YMMV

    Pretty much, yeah. It's says "here's a guy who can cast over 200 feet..."

    And Larimer is the dude who designed the lines 90% of us use. Tough to get a good swing in a casting pond though...

    And I was just kidding about the hat.

    Try and throw a rock but keep it in front of your head....kinda tough eh? Sometimes when you can't wade out past the brush this is necessary, and most of the time this is a spot you don't need to cast very far as its a steep drop. The more room you have the further back you can set your anchor and the more power you gain.

    Next chapter is about leaving a foot of running line out to gain power VS stripping a foot in to minimize the size of your D loop...
