    LOL

we all go nuts then here comes Langebeck with had 10 on and landed only three over 5 lbs lol Freaking American River ......
Remember though David, we have a winter run, these fish are extremely early.

I am thinking the half pounder thing ended when Bill Kiene wasn't in AARP. (which was a LONG time ago that he didn't get the senior discount at Sizzler)

Those of us who fish a crapload should be able to get one or two. (All year)

Remember too gordon bobber fishes, not taking anything away from him, but it's a way more effective way to catch fish.

That's a great American River Steelie! Congrats!

BTW, has anyone ever seen sculpin in the American?.... not that it matters but I'm curious.

Yes, I found one in a soda can once that was submerged for who knows how long.

I second that. The sculpins I have seen were about 3 "- 4" long. The first one i saw was at Ancil area and was a molted brown color. Then I was at Gristmill one day and there was a biologist doing a survey on salmon & steelhead smolts. He was dragging a long net of about 20-30' and bringing it up on shore with quite a bit of everything in it. Lots of sculpin as well.

Jed, I'm with you on that one. My buddies and I put in a hell of a lot of time with not much in the way of returns. Granted I fish the lower river almost exclusively, but it can be rough on the psyche.

Ha, yeah, I only have a couple regular "Beats" and they're all low as well.

Gotta wait for that one fish to come through the spot I'm fishing (when I'm there!) that is willing to eat one on the swing. Doesn't happen often, but when it does--it's pretty great!
