    Default Truckee, CA.

    Fall arrived yesterday.....
Frost in the morning. (Wore the fuzzy hat for the first time this season.)
Some hail lightly pelted us in the afternoon..
Drizzled rain off/on most of the night.
Didn't effect the water color much.
H2O Temps have been around 58 most all day.
Going to be breezy from here on out. Bring a wind breaker.
Some parking spots near water are car free.
Upper river near town is low, but fish-able.
Lower canyon is very pretty and has fish moving.
    Very sparse hatches.
Small bugs generally.....Except for the occasional Oct Caddis...yep still around.
Some Mahogany Duns are being sipped, PMDs, Midges, and very light colored Caddis, in the evening.
I have had some luck mid mornings by drowning normally floated flies.................
    Still have many Hoppers mid-day.
The the people that swing streamers are smiling.
The Fall colors will disappear quickly if the wind/weather stays the same, and it looks like it will.
    But fish love atmospherics.
Might be a good time to fish......although, if you can't go now, the T fishes in winter too.....

    Jim-

I love your line, "My best advise for fly fishermen......
    Spend time watching fish."

Ditto that 5X! There are those who fish, and those who catch fish. The catchers are invariably those who occasionally leave the rod behind and instead carry binoculars, a camera, or better yet, a face mask and snorkel.

Ralph, you're the guy that told me "Go swim it." in '93.
    Best advise I've received.
Made me quit blaming the fish......
To chilly to swim right now though.

If you have limited expierience fishing the T i would hire a guide. Its a very challenging river and bigfly can teach you a ton! It took me a year to enjoy fishing the T. I used to hate it. ANd now I love it. A lot to learn about the river for sure. I need to get back to it asap! In the next day or 2 since the lady starts back at work tommorow
