    Default stanley Idaho

Going to be in Stanley next weekend. Probably will only be able to fish one day so going to try and keep it close. Been reading and apparently the upper salmon has some great cut fishing. Sounds like hoppers and terrestrials is the game. Also sounds like there are a lot of pull outs on the road, but finding info is pretty tough. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. PM is fine. Thanks in advance!

There's a small creek slightly n.w. of Stanley along Hwy. 21; a tributary of the Salmon River. Also a bit farther n.w., on the south side of the hwy., is Stanley Lake, a beautiful lake with a campground and a splendid view of McGowan Peak. Not far south of Stanley, west of Hwy. 75, are various drive-to lakes along the east base of the Sawtooth Range. (And many fine alpine lakes, if you had time to hike in.) The Salmon River along there is creek-size at this time of year, accessable from many crossroads. It gets bigger downstream of Stanley, going east toward Challis.
