What can I use as better ant and beetle leg material ?
All options are welcome.... I am done with deer hair.
Thanks kindly, Brian

For ants I just use dry fly hackle. Just a couple turns in the middle between segments. No need to mimick actual legs. For bigger beetles flexi floss is a good choice. Small beetles I use hackle like the ant.

I've tied some ant pattens using synthetic paint brush hairs......you can shape em too
"Is this your homework Larry?"
Root beer or black krystal flash...or colors to your liking
I agree with the guys above, feather stems, flexi-floss and krystal flash are all good options!

On ants I use hackle. On beetles and bigger go with flexi-floss or rubberlegs

A guy at the Pleasanton show was using Porcupine quills for legs. Pretty awesome legs if you ask me.

I use rubber from a bass jig skirt.
Another vote for flexi-floss.......moose hair is another fair substitute and cheap.
