    Default elwha dam removal progress

The lower dam is completely gone a year ahead of schedule and they predict the upper dam will be gone by spring next year. Over a year ahead of schedule. Steelhead are already spawning in tributaries of the river. here is a article the seattle times ran today. click on the link to see the pictures.

Shawn, thanks for the post. Wish it were more like the falling dominoes game.

Read another article off that one about all the sediment, and how much more is coming. Looks like then fish find the feeder streams because they are clearer water. Hope they can all find a spot up the small streams, cause that mud is nasty stuff.

Any idears what it will take to get rid of all the sediment after both dams are down, so the fish can use the Elwha itself?

There are many post on Moldy Chum http://www.moldychum.com/ that document what studies were completed before work was started on the dams, what happened as the water recceded, tree planting. And what is happening now. You will have to do a bit of searching.
Fishing is always good, the catching may not be.
