Default Wading for Giant Trevally in the Seychelles

In my 13 trips to Christmas Island I saw lots of these big fish up close and hooked some of them too.

Most get away by either spooling you out of line or cutting your line off on the coral.

    Default Ulua at X-mass

Aloha Bill, did you ever land any there? I am headed back next april with a bunch of crazies from the portland area. We got them on the boat and then backed up to deeper water to fight them. They would crash hookless teasers and chase them to the boat, then one cast and you were on. It was good fun.
I liked the video what a great job being a guide in the seychelles.

Bluefinned trevally, omilu are good fighters as well.

We would go whipping for papio, gt's under 10lbs every evening back at the lodge.

Love X-mass island, great fishing and beautiful flats. Mems.

A friend of mine, Cary Marcus, landed one while wading that was over 70 pounds on a 10 weight fly rod at Christmas Island.

We could land ones that were around 30 pounds but after that it was just too much for us wading with 10 wright rods.

I once had a huge old Baracuda on that was way over 40 pounds while wading with a 10 weight rod at Christmas Island too. Ran and jumped like a Marlin.....

I feel lucky when I hook a great fish on a fly rod, even if it get's away.

    Nice photos........thanks Mems.

Going to take my Beulah 13/15 and SeaLevel Extreme Reel to Christmas Island this December for those bad boy gangsters. Thanks for posting the video, it is great.
