Anyone have a good recommendation for Lower Sac River guide??? Its for two people and provides gear for people who don't own tackle.

    Default Lower Sac Guide

    I'd highly recommend Lance Gray.

A couple of my friends & I fished with him on Putah Creek earlier this year. Lance & his crew were great to fish with. Very attentive & very knowledgeable.

There are dozens of good drift boat guides on the lower Sac

This would be above and below Redding, CA.

Most like to fish it in the fall, winter and spring.

Summer is pretty hot (weather) on the Lower Sac.

In the summer starting now I would be going up elevation to rivers like the Upper Sac, Pit and McCloud.

Ryan is the man up on this river. Gets his clients into fish.

Not sure about the providing gear but I have gone with Ernie Denison and Chris Parsons from TFS and had very good trips.

I haven't fished with him but I have been present at a presentation by Lincoln Gray (Lance's brother) on the Lower Sac and I was very impressed by what he had to say and definitly put his name on my list for future trips.

    Default Guide reccomendation

I would reccomend Ryan Johnston like someone already mentioned. Hes an awesome guide, especially for the Sac, he always seems to know where the fish are in the valley rivers. rjsflytrips.com

Ive fished with a bunch of guides up there before I got my own boat and the best experience Ive had was with Shane Kohlbeck. Shane grew up in Redding and has been with the Fly Shop with one way or another for 15 years. Not only does he know the river but he is a great casting instructor and has really helped a few of my buddies accelerate their learning curve. His website (http://www.lowersactrout.com/) is updated regularly with reports.....definately worth a call.

I've mostly used TFS guides the last few years. Greg Dean, Brian Balog, Lonnie all great to fish with. I used an independent guide because I got a good deal a couple of years ago...turned out not to be a good deal. That individual is not mentioned in this thread so I'll leave it at that.

I've always had good luck with the guys from The Fly Shop, especially with Ernie Denison or Brian Blalog.
