    Smile Lower Sacramento River

Fished the Lower Sacramento 04/06 & 04/07 with guide Darrien Deel. Fantastic fly fishing and great weather. Flow was about 3000. My friend and I boated over 20 rainbows each day and lost about as many. Size of fish was excellent with most running between 14" and 16", but with some in the 17"-18" range. Highly recommend a trip to the Lower Sac now and would recommend Darrin as a guide anytime.

I think April/May is really good with the big caddis hatch going on.

Summer is too hot...most go up elevation in the summer.

Fall is good........Mike Mercer of The Fly Shop lin Redding, CA likes October a lot. He says the fish are really hot then.

    It fishes all winter too.

A friend was saying you could swing flies up there now with a two-handed rod with the low flows and good wading too.

We saw several fisherman swinging and it looked good in the low water.
