    Default Lake Davis

I made an exploratory trip to Davis this afternoon and found plenty of open water. There is still a bit of ice in the coves and some by the dam, but that was it. The east side road is mostly snow free where it is paved. I didnt make it up to Lightning Tree so I didnt see how far one could access. Not much snow on the ground, but driving to the shore at Mallard and Coot requires driving on icy ruts and some mud.One can drive in to Honker but launching a boat is not an option from there at this time. The lake level is good for now...have to see how long it lasts. I fished for an hour or so before the wind became more than I wanted to deal with. I didnt have any bumps today but Ive been hearing some good reports. Should be a good early season at Davis.

Thanks for the post Jay....it sure feels like a early spring this year....maybe the lack of snow run off will keep more of those big fish in the lake.
