Jason came back to Sacramento yesterday to get his hair buzzed, pick up some new waders at the shop and a bunch of winter flies.

He had some really cool hats made up for his guide service.....

He put on a presentation last night at The Granite Bay Flycasters Club:

He has been very busy guiding almost every day lately and has very little time for anything else.

If you want to learn how fly fish for winter Steelhead with a two-handed fly rod I would get over there with him soon.

He went back over to the coast today...

    Hi Tom,

Odd question but no secrets here. I do not have a photo but if I did you would see a lot of Hosers in blk/blue, purple/pink and pink. String leeches and various intruder style flies.

Isn't the proper phraseology "garden hackle"?

For those who haven't fished the Hoser, it is a truly great pattern. The reverse cone design works incredible. It's much more efficient at creating a large profile while adding weight and reducing the amount of water absorbing materials typically used to create the bump.

I tied six of them for a coastal trip a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe how great they looked and fished. I now tie many "intruder style" patterns with the reverse cone. It also speeds up my tying because I'm doing away with the dubbing loop which is a slow process.
