    Default Reel Question?

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if there is a difference in the Ross Canyon series, and the Ross Canyon Big Game reels. Are the Canyons really the same, just smaller, or is there a difference.

I have a Big Game 4 which I like, only problem is when it gets wet the drag doesn't work and becomes extremely light. I was wondering if the drag on the smaller Canyons is designed the same. Thanks...

I think the old Ross 'Canyon' reels came in size 1, 2 and 3.

Not sure about that drag with water.

Yes Bill, I believe your correct. The 'Big Game' came in 4,5,6,7...

These seem to be 'hit and miss' Some guys swear by them and others have a similar problem that I have. Mine doesn't have to get dunked either. If its raining it will go into free spin.

You can send your reel back to Ross and they will fix it no charge.I sent my Big Game 4 in with drag problem they fixed it and suggusted I send it in for cleaning more often.Fast turn around time I was very happy with the service.

Thanks Jim, I'll probably do that. I'm not the original owner, but I am the first to use it.

We hear good reports from the Ross Momentum LT series now.

They come in larger sizes for 8 weight and larger.

The Canyon BG 4 has a pretty good drag (but not as good as say Abel). The Canyon 1, 2, and 3 don't have nearly the drag that the 4 has. I love the 1-3 for trout. The 4 has accounted for plenty of king salmon, tarpon, and roosters. I do think I have some drag issues on occassion with the 4.
