....but it was very cold too.

Here are some happy clients who went out with Toby Uppinghouse.

That could be a still from the movie "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen."

Toby and I shared the float that day... that might have been the coldest day on the river this year.

I fished with a guide this past Monday and Tuesday and the fishing was very good. Low clear water so you need to be stealthy. If you are nymphing you must have a Solitude golden stone size 8 and 10. Plus the usual nymphs, psycho prince, BH PT and micro may. 14-18. Yes I said #18, I caught a 12 pound buck on a size #18 micro may.

If you only swing, good luck ( I like to swing too) but the water was 37 degrees. Did not see anyone swinging.

Not many people on the river. Weather coming Wednesday through Friday, should open the Klamath and bring some fish into the Trinity.

Swinging is definitely VERY tough on the Trinity right now... The lower river has also been in the 37-38 degree range. I have swung hard between Willow Creek and Hawkins Bar for 4 days in the past week and only been rewarded with one nice winter buck in the 8 lb range. One of these days I will have to load up some bobbers and nymphs and check out the other side of the Trinity.... where all the fish are
