Holy Jeebus!! Best topwater footage I've seen in awhile.
I'd give up my left nut to get some of that action
Thanks for sharing that Bill.
That is some pure fish porn. I want to go.
WOW!!! That really looks like a lot of fun. That trip's one for the bucket list for sure.

Bill, Do we know the best season for that fishery? looked a bit chilly. I may be down that way in June.
Jay,.... It seems that the best Red Fishin' posts come up around this time each year. So, I'm guessin' late fall and winter is the best season for the big guys. When I stayed down there in the summer as a kid, we caught lots of Red Fish but they were rarely larger than a few pounds....
As I recall, there was a thread on this BB last fall/winter about catching "Swamp Donkeys". Wasn't a video, tho. I'll see if I can find it....

It took a few trips before I finally hooked up, and my first tailing red was caught on top water as well. It was a little copper colored hard popper. Pretty cool when the reds come up out of the water to eat! Brett
I went down to Nawlins for a bacherlor party in April 2010. Two weeks before the oil spill. We had a blast catching redfish and black drum in shallow water. This is a great trip for west coasters looking to do something different.
I can't say enough about our guide Greg Dini http://www.flywaterexpeditions.com/Greg-Dini.html at Fly Water Expeditions . He is a super cool guy with a skiff that will make you drool, and he knows the local water extremely well. Like any guide worth his salt, he'll even take your photo with a wide angle lense so your fish looks bigger than it is!
Pick a date that coincides with a music festival, buy a Southwest plane ticket, get a room, call Greg, and go!
Couple photos from my trip...
I've been Redfishin' in NOLA, south of Belle Chasse and these videos want me to go back ASAP!
I didn't get any Reds on the top but this footage is nuts!
They can be caught year round except for the coldest months of Dec, Jan and Feb. Fall months are usually the best.
