    Default Trinity River

Has anyone been or heard about the lower end of the trinity lately?

Salmon and Steelhead are moving through the river in last weeks high water.

Might be getting better as the flow comes down.

I went up this morning for a couple hours and the catching was pretty good for some feisty native half pounders. The river has a nice stain to it below the South Fork.

Just got back from trinity as they dropped the flows and no fish to be found. Fished really hard all weekend (plus monday) from douglas city down to del oma swinging flies and nymphing without a touch, and the weird thing is there were cars at almost every spot...think its going to be another slow crowded year on the trinity, oh well always have the rogue, it seems to be fishing well.

its probably just little early then I guess for that stretch, and yea I bet it will be a crowded bugger this year. Did you see any salmon staged up at all?

This early in the season I would focus my energy below Del Loma. There is some real good swinging water near willow creek. I also like the Hoopa Valley this early.

I think the next 30 days should be good for swing flies.

A buddy and I fished on the 17th and 18th with guide Mike Hibbard in the Junction City area. The flows were dropped on October 15th and the water can be skinny in places. We were indicator nymphing and hooked 21 fish in two days and landed 9. These early fish are hot and often we were trashed immediately.

Lots of salmon everywhere and the fish are on an egg bite.
