Default Fuller Lake ID water cut back

The ID canal flowing into Fuller Lake was cut back yesterday, the lake level was still up....but the catching was a little slow with no water flowing into the lake. I caught some rainbows on a black sheepcreek in the late afternoon, and right at dark the browns came up to feed on the surface....i used my 3wt. with a floating line and a size 22 tan emerger that worked some of the time....Jim H. and myself didn't have a clue to what they were feeding on....does and anyone know what they might be feeding on????
It was a great place to be on a hot day with the water temp at 58 degrees, and a bald eagle was doing a little fishing tooooo.

Possibly Black Gnats? (donno if they actually eat them) This time of year it's hard to tell.
"For years, every time he stopped at the house to collect his paper money, it was the same routine. The old man in the wheelchair would ask him how he'd like it if he took him fishing and showed him a few things. He always said he'd like that.
When the old man finally passed away, his wife gave the kid a box of flies. He has them today, tucked away in a closet, never to be fished."
