    Default Indian Creek Res/Carson Report

So after being introduced to stillwater fishing a few weeks ago by ScottV at Woods Lake I took advantage of him again agreeing to meet up at Indian Creek this weekend. It was touch and go for the trip as we both were battling minor medical stuff but as I had a few extra days off I left on Thursday with Scott to meet me on Friday.

My first stop along the way was a beautiful section on the West Carson. Dindn't see any fish but it was midday and 90s.

Hit Indian Creek next and expected to see an ugly lake that everybody said used to be a wastewater pond.

Caught one here and it was the first I caught by myself

The next day I headed out in the am to fish the special reg section of the East Carson. It again was hot but beautiful. Caught one pretty rainbow and lost another before calling it a morning.

Fished a little more at Indian Creek before Scott showed up and ordered me to get a campfire started! We both dined on gormet PBand J's and discussed plans for the next day and solved other world crisis's.

Woke up to cloudy skies and again Indian Creek showed us her beauty.

I caught the first fish of the day and got to gloat for about 30 minutes til Scott showed me how it was done.

Scott proceeded to catch a bunch while I identified Grebes,Terns Pelicans and other birds.
There were some huge fish jumping and Scott almost got one in his tube. He did catch a few big ones and we lost numerous fish on LDRs throughout the morning.

I finally got the hang of it but lost the overall battle for the day.

Then it was off to a secret spot. Try and keep up!

We got there and the wind was howling. Then a tree broke my 4wt fortunately we were just a few 100 yards form our cars so I hiked back and got another. We emerged into a beautiful meadow.

Were we saw lots of these

And caught a few of these

The wind kept our numbers down and I kept stopping to try and id flowers and grab my fly from trees but it was one of the prettier spots I have ever fished.

Thanks again to Scott for a great adventure and to the area for some more beautiful scenery.

I had no idea how hot it would get at night there, last time it was cold and the fish weren't biting, this time it was hot and the fish were biting. Showed up Friday night, had a campfire and a bottle of rum all to myself so needless to say I had a great night. Upon waking the following morning jumped up and got into the water as fast as possible, all the while telling Craig you aren't going to catch any fish at the campsite. Skies were cloudy, birds were flying everywhere, and Craig gets into a fish right off the bat, I knew it was going to be a fun day. I caught fish, he caught fish, we all caught fish even the trens. Once we had our fill of stillwater I wanted to take him to so easy topwater action for brookies. Needless to say he saw tons of real tricky fish but was able to hook up with a couple. All in all a great day of fishing and sight seeing, you just have to love the beauty of the sierras, I am so thankful to be able to visit all year long and share its beauty with others.

Craig you are now officially in the double A's, you rising quick!!!

there is some killer brookie action in those meadows....as well as the occasional rainbow. Awesome scenery that will get you walking a long distance from your car. A little 7' 3wt is my choice rod for that area.
