Default Big Creek - the name, not the creek

My son was at camp down at Huntington Lake, so I drove down to pick him up. Didn't have a lot of time, but did have a great time on Big Creek, which enters Huntington on the east end.

Lots of planter rainbows, but not the raggedy finned ones we usually see around here, and surprisingly difficult to fool. Well executed downstream presentation of hatch matching dries the rule.

Away from the deep pools near bridges, a lot of nice 8-10 inch wild browns. All in all a great afternoon. If you're in the area, give it a try.

Yep, nice little creek. If you hike upstram a ways away from China Peak there are brookies. Did a trifecta there last year. Three species three successive casts: rainbow, brown, and brookie.

I had this stocker hooked up when I took the pic.
