Hey Guys,
Bryce Tedford here of Beulah Fly Rods, I have got to say the Shad fishing thing has absolutely been a kick in the pants out on the American. I have been using my Beulah Platinum 12'6" Spey Rod with a Tonic 425grn & 10' of T-11 for distance & my Beulah Platinum 10'8" Switch Rod with an Elixir 375grn with a 10' intermediate clear slow sinking poly leader when they get near the suface in the evening. I cannot imagine a better fish to learn to Spey or Switch cast on & get results!! They jump, they fight, readily take a swung fly & they can be targeted after a day of work!! Took my wife out the other night & we must of landed over 10+ fish, what a blast!!!! If you have not taken time to focus on Shad fishing you should give them a chance as they are a great game fish!!
Attached are a couple of shots form 2 nights ago:
1. Beulah girl & my wife Bethany with a nice shad
2. A nice Shad with the Beulah Platinum 12'6" 6wt Spey Rod
