    Default 5wt bass

Went ot one of my favorite places to fish for bass. The ponds lately have been kicking my butt so I knew I could get good fish at one of my favorite places. The bite started real slow at first but when the switch got flipped it was bass after bass. I have fished here for about 8 years and never caught a crappie, I had heard they were in there but I have never seen one. One day I was out there and saw a dead one about 24 inches, biggest crappie I have ever seen. Well I finally got luckey and caught one, and not just anyone, this sweet thing was 17.5 inches and as big as a big skillet. Put up a heck of a fight and splashed my face after I released it. All in all a nice day on the water.

    Scott,

Nice fish! Interesting color variation on the second fish. Looks blueish. Those big crappie can out fight the bass.

Ed, Scott, Shig and all you guys up north are so lucky to have such a variety of places to fish. I would love to have some pond access but there is nothing down here. I have two small lakes to fish and they are not doing well now because fluctuating water levels. High water wiped out the weed patches when the Corps drew down the lake. Dead as a door nail!

Way to get on em, haven't had too much luck out there lately myself. I wish I was out there more but I don't like putting on waders in May.

I'll let you know next time I come out, maybe we can fish together. That crappie made the whole day, I been trying for like 8 years to catch one there.
