    Default Pond Assault this w/e......

Susan and I just had to get out last Thursday after a couple nice days to try some top-water LM's. It pleasantly turned out to be our best top-water day so far this spring. We only had a couple hours so guess who did the tossing and who did the paddleing. Susan did well landing a half dozen fish to about 3#.

Friday had the weather changeing for much cooler and there was a very short bite in the late afternoon.

Saturday, a prescheduled day, it was colder yet. Susan and I hooked-up with Ken for a FUN day at a couple ponds.

Ken and Susan ready to do damage......

We had some hosts at the first pond.....

I snuck down to the "bluegill" corner and tossed a floating spider in without seeing absolutely nada....uh oh. We were able to scrounge up only two bass to the top....one on the spider and a nice fish on a frog of which we landed the smaller spider fish. Ken and Susan did conciderably better on muddlers.

Ken learned about electric fences and frying flies!

Next we went to Kitty's and did an ALMOST fruitless trip around her pond. a FEW fish were pestered, but not many.

After lunch found us bow and arrow casting under these trees into this water.......

    For some of these......

Ken developed quite a unique and successful method of getting a muddler down to the bass rather quickly and some of these were pestered.....

Susan chose to pull several from the submerged dock.....

It was a GRAND weekend....GOOD food, GOOD weather, and GRAND company!!!!

    Lee:
Those kind of treks are probably the most enjoyable of all. Good friends, good times,
good memories. Nothing heart-stopping or breath-taking; just pure pleasure.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Best,
    Larry S

    Default Ponds

    There's something special about ponds.

They provide plenty of low tech, in your face fishing along with some 'crack the code' type fishing.

Nice pics along with the story.

Good to see you guys (and gal) gettin out and gettin into them.

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Jake: Hit it.

Great post Lee. You and Susan have to come and pester some shad when it gets good. Next month should be red hot!! Jeff
