Truckee river - May

Flows up-stream near Tahoe are fishable at 70+ cfs.
495cfs after adding a few creeks down near Donner confluence.
Below Donner is big, 600+- add some more crks and the LT, really big.
Water is a green/tan. 49-54 deg.
It's been cooler at night so water color is good..
Down canyon is silly big.
2300 cfs at Farad. No wading there!
Pick a side and fish it.
Be very careful out there.
The Carpenter Ants will be emerging pretty soon (I saw one yesterday non-winged)..as it warms.
BWOs and some vsmall Baetis.
A few more micro Caddis fluttering around each warm day.
Lots of swimmer may nymphs (juju) (micromay) sz20.
Some Iron sally stone nymphs.
Don't forget your midges either. sz20 black adult, nymph (zebra).
The "worm hatch" is on. red-brown SJuan
No numbers of noses yet.
A dark, lowriding stimy w/dropper, is still worth a try.
If you walk next to the water, you are probably spooking fish.
Mostly fish subsurface, soft edges/seams.
There is a huge seasonal difference in bugs and flows from Lake Tahoe to NV state line.
Think/rig locally.
The warden is out, don't forget to check those barbs, he will!
Not too many folks on the water yet.
It's a good time to wet a line here in Bobberville.

Thought I would flash the message.
The flows are begining to drop, and the color has come back.
It's getting about time to fish, barring 80 deg. temps, we are good to go.

Last update for May, it's snowing like crazy up here 6-7" today (5-28-11).
Looks like more on the way later this week..
