    Default Mending

    Anybody air mend when you spey cast? I've never seen anybody do it.

    I don't see why not.

    When I fished with 'Skagit Commando' Mike McCune he was using mono shooting line and just held all the running line very high off the water all the way out to the floating head.

    I think watching many of the top DVDs of Spey casting/fishing and getting out with the top Spey guides will make a lot of difference for most.

    yes you can mend in the air - I do it on occasion depending on conditions. As Bill points out, with the long rods you can also do easy mends once down and hold line off the water when warranted
