    Default Folsom Lake Smallmouth

Caught my first California smallmouth bass back on April 17th. I finally spent some time getting things with a new camera to work the way I want with my computer and just getting around to a late post. Better late than never right. It was a breezy day. I didn't get the water temp but I was near Beal's Point where there were small brush piles along the shoreline and various boulders. This guy took a brown bugger on type 3 line stripping semi fast / semi slow so medium. My buddie caught one himself using a good ol' live nightcrawler. I'm doing my best to get him into fly fishing.

Here's a brief video and some pics. http://vimeo.com/23449408

I have an excellent smallmouth fishery nearby. Perfect for small craft. Smallies to 5+lbs on topwater if you wanna go sometime.

Hey epzamora you are really close to good small mouth fishing. Pine Flat has a good population of the beast and some spotted bass as well. Spotted bass are about as much fun as smallies. Some of the streams that flow into the Kings River as well as the Kings itself have populations of them. If I'm not mistaken Millerton also has a decent population of small mouth with a bunch of spots. If you take a trip to the coast, Naciemiento is also a good bet.
