truckee noob

hi

i have yet to fish the truckee.. ever... was wondering if anyone can feed me information on the river. flows are around 400 near truckee, but i have no clue if that is fishable or not, and i do not know any access points. hell, i havent even been to tahoe.. lol...

i am headed there this weekend... pm's would be nice.

i mainly fish sequioa and kings canyon during the spring and summer... so if you do plan on going there, im the guy to ask.

Try to fish the Truckee River from around mid-June to through July for a nice window of hatches and good water flows and temps.

**Most trout streams have a 4 to 6 week window in the spring/early summer when fly fishing is just a little easier.

October is averagely the other big deal for most mid-elevation trout streams.

August I would be at the higher elevations.

Bill's right about the "easy window", but it's difficult to say on a big-water year, when the window will appear.
Maybe mid june this year, maybe later.
We might have enough water this year to be good in august too.
Glance at the report on the T for semi-current conditions.
Below town is not easy fishing right now with these flows, but upstream is beautiful, and may hold surprises.
Tahoe is a surface release dam, the H2O temps are nice now, later it will be warm.
Some tan color in the afternoon below Squaw crk.
The Truckee is a firm, but a fair teacher.
These fish like to see a "perfect drift", with the right bug.
I should add, the takes can be lightning fast, get twitchy, gun-fighter fast.
Stay focused, don't miss your chance.
Glennshire day use area is one place to start. But it gets alot of pressure.
I reccomend picking up a T-river map at Mnt. Hardware.

I was thinking about hitting the T this weekend also, any one know if the camp grounds are open around Boca? And if so, how much snow is left?
