Default Hit the Shad now on the Lower American River.

"Shad Commando" Jeff Ching says that they are still in high numbers for now and with the river stabilized at 4,500 cfs the fishing should be very good.

Try to fish somewhere above the Sunrise Bridge and be out there early or late in the day for good results.

**Flies are smaller and sparser than ever with a size #8-10-12 being the norm now.

If you fish with a small fly right up till dark you should have some luck.

Bill's advise is good but I don't want people to get their hopes up. There were huge numbers last week but now it looks like they are balling up and heading downriver. If you happen to find one of these balls you might score like Bruce did yesterday. On the average a fly fisherman will catch a few per day in the usual spots. Get 'em while you can!

I don't know what to say. I thought it was winding down but I had a good evening last night thanks to good intel. If you're lucky you might find a pod of shad, otherwise it's going to be ones twoes. Get it while you can!
