It would nice if an actual shad showed up on the "shad cam" that my computer would be notified and I could really see one swimming by.
Nothing personal... The Shad Cam Sucks....
Look at it in May.....

5:14 PM here in sunny San Diego and I just saw a shad swim by. Would be 8:14
Virginia time. Here's an offer - be the first Kiene member to post a picture of
a shad (from the Shad Cam website) and I'll send you either John McPhee's "The
Founding Fish" or John N Cole's "Striper: A story of fish and man." McPhee's book
(he's probably my favorite non-fiction writer) is not so much about fishing, but about
his incredible desire to know everything about the fish. He credits the shad for
our survival at Valley Forge.
The late John Cole was a prime mover in getting the striper listed as a game fish
in the US Atlantic. Great writer.
Re the book deal --- no eel pictures!
Best to you,

All I have seen are "eels". Or maybe it's the Bronx Zoo Cobra.
I saw some lamprey eels in the Russian river while fishing for shad a few years ago
Seen shad slip by the camera several times today (Friday.) No, I don't spend all
day watching!
If you want a great book about eels, check out James Prosek's latest. You've
probably seen his fish art. He spins a fascinating read on eels.
Best,
Larry S
I captured a photo of what looked like a trout-carp but no shad yet. I'm trying!
