Default Top Pere Marquette River Steelhead guide

Just got some good feedback about John Kluesing, who is a top steelhead guide on Michigan's famous Pere Marquette River.

John is also part of Solitude Reels and an instructor of fly fishing for L L Bean.

The PM is an incredible fishery. You can catch browns and rainbows all year and steelhead in the Fall/Winter & Spring as well as the king salmon in the fall.

John Kluessing would be a great choice. If you've never given MI a try, the PM is one of the top places to start. I've seen this river in many peoples top ten fly fishing locations in the world. If you want more info on the river, there is a fantastic forum (almost as good as Bill's ) for this fishery at www.fishbaldwin.com

The spring run is starting there soon. Give it a shot and good luck if you go! Give us a report if you do.

John is a super nice guy to boot! He helped get me out of a jam one time on the river. I was new at rowing a drift boat and was trying hard not to spook his hole he had his sport on. I got the tip of my oar caught up in a snag and the current pushed my boat into a hairy position. He got me out of the jam and didn't make me feel like the " rookie" that I was.

Very gracious of him... I'll never say a bad thing about him. John Kestner is another awesome guide for those rivers.

It is an awesome River to fish. I haven't seen anything like it in California.

    You're welcome Bill.

I would definitely check it out sooner than later if you're curious about Midwest rivers at all. There is a section dedicated just to fly fishing as well.

Got another good report about John Kluesing:
