    Default Switch Rod Question

I have a new 6 wt Echo switch rod with a skagit head that I'm using to swing for steelhead on the American. Any advice on what head to use for Skwalas (and perhaps for general trout use)? I love the switch rod but it is a whole new learning curve after 30 years of single-handed only. Thanks.

For two-handed casting, Airflo Compact Scandi 360 and poly leaders for trout work.

Alternatively, You could get a floating MOW tip (or make a floating tip) for your skagit line for use in real windy conditions or when using big bugs. Your existing skagit line with floating tip added is the least expensive option but the line will be heavier than the Scandi so presentation will not be as delicate.

You can put a Rio Steelhead weight forward 8 floater on it for single handed casting.

Going two sizes up with a steelhead floater is common practice for a single hand casting with a Switch rod.
