In the 1970s When I had The Fly Hutch in Sacramento I drove to the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club in Golen Gate Park in San Francisco to meet with Scott Rod founders Harry Wilson and Larry Kenney.

We cast many of their newest fiberglass fly rods that day.

I also visited their rod shop in Berkeley back in the day.

It is amazing that Larry is till with us and doing very well.

    Hey Billy -

In February/March 1973 I purchased 3 Scott Powr-Ply Fly Rods from the Fly Hutch in Santa Clara, (7 1/2' - 5 weight, 8' - 6 weight, and 8 1/2' - 8 weight). I took these rods with me to Bozeman, Montana, during my move there in March 1973. At that time, the 5 weight was glorious.

    Memories!

    Best, Bob

So, if Harry and Larry are the founders. Who's Scott?

Jay and Bill, I think, if my memory hasn't failed me as it often does, there was an article in the previous California Fly Fisherman about these gentleman.

Bill---I believe Harry Wilson's first shop for Scott Rod Company was on Clementina Street in San Francisco; then moved to Berkeley. Winston Rod was near on Third Street in SF.

    Jay and Bill,
I think the name came from the casters' reactions; "Great Scott, these rods are awesome." Any other help I
    can offer?
    Best,

Scott was Harry's son. His dog's name was Rod hence the Scott Rod.
