Did a bit more testing and I figured out where the air is going. Need to do a bit of re-sealing of a few spots and that should take care of things...

I knew I wasn't crazy. Need a few more special jigs and fixtures now...

Figured I'd start messing around with the seat build.

Recycled the original black bag bladder to install some seat baffles and create the "valve hump" that I wanted to test out. Now that I have this to goof with and sit on (I couldn't do that with my plastic one) I may rethink the location and put it centered up front between the legs. Less likely to get chafed there maybe? The rear center may not work as well unless perhaps I put it UNDER the seat under water.

    Looks good:

Funny, that top photo reminds me of a pregnant person looking down on their "middle" breast. Am I weird?

Maybe I'll build a full seat tomorrow?

    Hmm...

Hows the project coming along ? Looking forward to an ultra-light replacement tube ! Enjoyed watching you meticulously engineer this so far - very fascinating!

Well, I guess it's been a while since a proper update... Why?

    Because there is no update!

The project has made a few baby steps as far as adhesives and sealants and minor construction techniques but overall no major advances.

I hope to get off my ass again soon and get more done. I'd feel better about it if I had been fishing, but I haven't gotten a line wet since the beginning of the year! Sheesh...

C'mon SHig, as an engineer, you know that keeping schedule is just as important as meeting technical requirements, and we are concerned that you are frittering away your schedule reserve. Perhaps it would help to lay this out in Microsoft Project so you will at least be ready for ice-out? Just trying to help.

<lol> At this rate, ice-out won't be until AUGUST! I've got nothing but time...
