Snowing on both passes coming over from Eureka Sunday morning. A little drizzle on the river, but some sunshine too. I stayed downstream from the gauntlets upriver. Fished a bunch of spots from just below Del Loma down to Hawkins. Water (and feet) were pretty cold, but the river was clear and in fine shape for wading.

Quite a few salmon digging around down at Hawkins. But none of the "targeted species" in there with 'em. Tried Stones, cj's, eggs, bunnies, and buggers. Swinging and bobicating. Not one single grab the entire day.

However, it was pretty cool to have my first wintry northcoast steelhead trip after 15 years fishing the American in Sacramento, where I got skunked plenty of times. 8 times in a row one year, and I fished that river alot! So I'm not gonna bitch about getting blanked. It was still a good day.
