Headed over to NM for a few days late this month. If anyone has any suggestions on websites, forums, fly shops, and/ or water to check out in the relative vicinity, I would appreciate it.

You gotta fish the Cimmaron! The only fly shop in the town of Eagle Nest (on the way) was very helpful when I went. Fish arent real big, but the stream is gorgeous and the browns are plentiful.

The Reel Life fly shop in Santa Fe was very helpful when I was there a couple of years ago. I was heading up to the San Juan after a meeting in Santa Fe, and they set me up with the right flies (microscopic!) to be successful there. That was mid-summer, however, so I don't know what is going on now. They would know.

I fished the Cimmaron this past September...Eagle's Nest fly shop is very helpful. Fast moving water. Easily waded...plenty of fish...4 wt. is sufficient.

If you can travel to the San Juan you'll find some big fish below the dam...I'd use a 6 wt rig if you have one.
