    Default American River Fishing Report

Anyone had any luck on the American lately? Planning on floating down this weekend and wondering what's hitting recently. Thanks in advance.

Floating from where?? It's really hot right now (not the fishing, the weather) so I bet the rubber river lice will be all over.

I'll be starting at Hazel and working down to maybe River Bend Park. Probably be on the river by 7 so shouldn't be too hot when I finish up (hopefully!)

I put in a couple of hours Monday evening at both Gristmill and below the pedestrian bridge at River Bend with nary a bump. I was swinging flies on a short sink tip. Water level is low, and it seems warm as well. Didn't have a thermometer, but wet wading was comfortable. Only saw one other person out.

Yeah, surface activity has been dismal at times but there are some fish around, i made a post from Sunday am in the steelhead section.

    Thanks, good to know.

BTW that's a great steelhead pic from the other post. I'll let you know if I get anything like that

Well got out yesterday and there was a lot of action. Some of the biggest jumping salmon I've ever seen. Lots of top action between Hazel and Sunrise. Saw fishing jumping even around noon. Had a fish jump out of the water within pole distance!

But even with all this action me and my two friends still got skunked... 2 fly fishers and a bait chucker. Clearly I'm doing something wrong...

    Hi RJ

There are some nice big Half-pounder Steelhead in the river but not to many.

I am hoping for some weather to come and then October might be better.
