    Nice,

    Very classy Jim.

I said it a while back in another post. I don't know you other than this board, never met you but I've sent a couple clients your way because of the way you conduct yourself on this board.

Appreciate the advice and non-argumentitive nature you bring with your posts.

    Keep up the solid work.

    Default El Mosca Grande

    I couldn't agree more.
I have fished with Jim a lot in the last year or so and the advice he has offered has helped me immensely. Your can read books, message boards, watch DVDs, fish everyday, etc. but I think the one thing that really pays off is to be able fish with someone who knows more than you do. Jim is an excellent guide and phenomenal teacher.

Jim - Funny you should mention my dog's stream side etiquette. Took him out last night with me and he was no help at all. Like Michael Phelps out there. This is a big reason why he's been on the junior varsity team all season.

Chet, thanks. It's not funny I mentioned THE dog.
Many of my fishing freinds, have expirienced Canine Fishus Interuptus syndrome.
Lets tie him to a tree, and sneek up on'em! He can jump in when we're done.
Let's see some fish pics too!
    Give me call.

The rain has relented, the flows have stabilized, water color is good.
Cloud cover early is prompting fish to rise to BWO's sz20, (Burk's sillouette dun, or a dark body parachute).
Small yellow caddis sz 18-16 (Lt. elk hair dry) on the water, try swinging a beadhead soft hackle emerger too.
Oct. Caddis bouncing around, fish the emerger.
Brown mays (Drake?)sz 12-14, saw a few but couldn't catch one to ID.
Grass hoppers in the afternoon (drown'em).
Swim a skulpin to a fatty.
It's about time to call in sick mid-week. Less pressure, smaller bug menu, fish active, and winter is coming.........
In fact, Mt Rose got more than just a dusting of snow this last storm.

    Default Ode to The Pat's

I thought I had the image sizing thing figured out but apparently not.
    Anyway...

I had a few hours to fish yesterday afternoon so I went down into the canyon. I live in town so the upper river is really close but if I have a choice, I'll take the canyon every time.

The Pat's Rubber Leg Stone has hooked more big fish for me this season than any other fly...hands down. A friend and I now just refer to it as "The Pat's". Bugs of the Underworld was a real eye opener for me as far as what stones look like when they are in the river. When I fish The Pat's, I try and fish it on the lighter side. Obviously you need to get it down but I think less shot and a Duncan loop really gives it good action underwater. If it's shallower water and reasonably slow, I don't use any split shot at all.

    In the recovery room.
