Help with camping questions around Wrights Lake area this weekend?

My buddy and I were thinking about taking a trip this weekend to camp at Wright's Lake. The only thing is we can't go till Saturday morning and all of the sites left for this weekend are first come first serve. I have not camped in years so I don't know if first come first serve would be worth my while to drive that far? Do you think we would have a chance at a spot. I don't know how many people camp up there this time of year.

If we drive all that way and don't get a spot are there any other camp sites in the area where we could camp and fish from shore. It's my first time camping in many many years and I would hate to drive all that way for nothing and end up wasting the weekend. Any help as always is greatly appreciated.

Theres plenty of camping in the Crystal Basin, and lots of water to fish.

You about 15 miles away from Union Valley and Ice House if you take the road on top of the ridge... lots of camping sites there... but it's also busy.
