Default My first of the year

Went out with nightgoat last night and was able to get my first shad of the year and also the biggest shad I have ever caught. Had another one on but it came undone, also missed another 6 or so bites. It was a very slow night, things will pick up soon. Saw a bunch of the salmon smolt eating caddis of the water also, pretty cool to see such small fish eating bugs off the water.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Good job Scott. I too have none as of yet. Hooked one a week ago on spinning but came off.

Thanks Bill, but Jeff C. to me will always be "The Shad Man" to me. But it was nice to get a shad before him, but then again I was in a boat.

It was indeed quite slow last night. There were two other boats nearby also struggling to hook up. I think both of Scott's hook ups came while stripping in the fly? We'll get 'em next time...

I can tell you from what I saw today that the shad are all the way up to Rossmoore, maybe even further , just not in large quantities. We got one today that went an easy five pounds on a clouser while striper fishing, then got another one while shad fishing.

Bridge test still negative but my brother did hook up with a nice steelhead while we were trying to get our first striper of the season.... Threw the hook on the first jump. River is high, it was fun trying to cross.... had to turn around a few times before finding the right spot. Did have a dink hit the fly a few times, caddis coming off in good numbers and fish were still working them.
"Did you catch anything".........."No, did you"........

"Hey man, mind if I fish here?"....."Yes"...."Thanks man!"
