I was talking with a friend who said that you can pay to fish the big pond at "Rolling Hills Casino" near Corning, off Interstate 5.

I have only been to one, and it was a couple weeks ago, but I had probably 30 fish in an hour and a half. That particular pond is full of dinks though, nothing over 8". Except for sunnies, there are some sloths in there. I'm sure my private ponds are stupid easy by now though.

I agree not a big pay to play guy but the one at clear creek has stripers in it and is pretty cool.

Some of the advantages of "pay to fish" places is that the fishing is generally better than open water and you don't get you car broken into.

Many people do use the pay to fish properties in CA.

Many people hire fly fishing guides too.

There are dozens of bass pay ponds and trout pay to fish private ranches.

There are lots of people new to fly fishing that need a little help.

Bass ponds are generally less than trout. Bass are usually under $100 a day and trout are over $100/day.

Big Bluff Ranch has a cabin on that lake that you can stay overnight in.

I'd like to add that Luk Lake, behind Rolling Hills Casino, is also a trout fishery. The rod fee for 2010 is $100, and is well worth it for the variety of fishing and constant action. The lake is red hot right now, and anglers can book through Eagle Creek Fly Shop.... (530) 529-4799.

On the subject of "pay to access" bass lakes, has anyone joined up at Blodgett? (sp?)

Apparently, it's pretty nice place to fish for warm water species too. Annual fee is fair.

I did a couple of years ago, if I had the extra money I would for sure. Great little piece of water and you hardly have any company.

Blodgett's used to be called Wagell's Pond, I believe.......some years back.

There are literally thousands of farm ponds in Nor Cal, many are on very private properties and never get fished.

Being in the fishing tackle business for "too long" I have been invited to some great ones over the years.
