    Default Scott vs. Sage

    OK, I will throw in my 2 cents;

    Having casted both extensively I find them to be very similar in performance. The Sage feels a hair lighter in the hand but as a trout rod I do not feel it will make much of a difference.

    Where the differences lie are in customer service considering they cost about the same... Mine with Sage was intolerable whereas Scott's has been impeccable. Here is my story, it is only mine so take it for what it is worth...

    I fish over 150 days a year, and invariably, I break a rod about every other year and am very happy that both Sage and Scott offer no question warranties. Yet when I broke a Sage Z axis (My only Sage) a couple of years ago I sent it in for repair. After 3 Weeks I called for status and was told they are working on it. Another three week later I called again, was told very curtly that they were working on it. Three more weeks, another phone call and this time I was told that they are back logged on rod production and that warranty services have been postponed until they get to it. After 5 months, yes 5 months I received my rod. For a $600 dollar rod, this was unacceptable and I promptly sold the rod and vowed never to own another Sage for this reason.

    On the other hand, when I break Scott rods (about 6 as of now) they have always had rods back to me in three weeks or less. The longest a rod had been out with Scott was a month, and most importantly, when asked, they will send a loaner rod at not cost until you receive yours...

    Needless to say, I am a huge fan of Scott, not so much for their rods, which I do believe are fantastic, but more so for their customer service...
