Default Peacock Bass flies for Brazil's Amazon River

Here are some flies we used this last trip in February for Peacock Bass and other wild Amazon species.

L to R: Blue/White "Clouser", Red/White "Whistler" and new (prototype) Red/White "Poll Dancer".

We also used the Red/Yellow "Airhead".

Color combos that are popular were red/white, red/yellow, blue/white and "baby Peacock".

We used top water, slow sinking and fast sinking flies.

Maybe have them in 3" and 6" for different water levels.

Hooks need to be very strong and very sharp for use with 40# tippet. Lighter wire hooks straighten easily here. Owner 'Aki' and Umpqua's Tiemco '600S' are popular. Heavier Gamakatsu jig hooks work good too. 3/0 is a good size hook.

Here's a fly I gave to a guy who went Peacock fishing and did well. I guess they love the sound it makes
