I'll guess, one is for out going and the other is for incoming.

one for left hand retrieve and one for right hand.
Phos reels was around for a while manufacturing out of Carpinteria.
I think they got out of the reel business in the early 2000 time frame.

L or R hand wind, Cabela's used the same concept in some of their reels in the 80s.
And guys, don't forget that Bill Archuletta manufactured his reels in Santa Rosa before he moved his business to Oregon.
Again, in the mid to late 80s, a fellow named (Paul?) Peaker manufactured reels in the San Jose area that were based (CNC copies) on John Emery's salt water fly reels...mine has a drag that will stop a Buick. Neil Buchannan sold them out of his shop in Santa Clara (and the back of his van).

I have a couple of Ross Gunnisons. They are like over 20 years old, I forget exactly when I got them.
One on my 4wt Sage Light Line and one on my 6wt Sage RPL. Sweet reels and rod/reel combos. Rockin the Old School. I didn't know ross was CA. I thought they were CO.
I also have an Abel for my 12wt.
GALVAN makes some sweet sweet reels. I might eventually get one for my 8wt. As I have a Pate Bonefisher AR on there and it is a bit heavy for fresh water.
I believe Aaron reels were also made in California (not sure anyone has mentioned these yet?) - I still have one I use alot for salmon and some saltwater
I have seen quite a few reels posted that I did not know were made in CA USA. Very cool. Remember to support your locals if you can and I would love to see some more small scale production reels that came out of the area.

For the record, a few years ago Orvis Odssey reels were made by Richard Jacobsen in Cal. They were a very good reel, very well made.

I have a Peaker, #31. Any idea of the estimated current value? Not planning on selling, but instructing my wife on what to do in the event of a tragedy befalling me. Would hate to see it go to some one not knowing the value!
