    Default 2010 Dec Hogan Class

The dates for the 2010 Dec Hogan Spey Class will be May 1st.(Sat) and May 2nd.(Sun) The cost for the day of instruction is again $250.00. The class will run from 9-3 and include lunch. We will limit the class to six students each day. This class is designed for the angler with "some" experience with the two hand rod. Dec covers casting techniques in the morning and on the river fishing instruction after lunch. Dec usually brings some of his own rods that he designed for those of you who want to test out a new two hander.

Payment by check (made out to Kiene's Fly Shop) or credit card ( VISA or MC ) insures your place in the class.

You may call the shop (1-800-400-0359 or 916-486-9958 ) or send me an email at hatcrek@comcast.net.

Thumbs up Dec has a great program

I attended last year, and it was an excellent program.

With the good guys from Kiene's with their rods and know how, we had basically three people helping us and showing us what to do and what not to do. They brought their own favorites/lines and let us try them throughout the day.

The cost is very reasonable, and you get your money's worth.

    Thanks GS

Events like this help everyone learn and get new ideas. We meet some great people too.

We are thrilled to have Dec hear for the third time passing on many years of two-handed fly fishing information.

Dec is a big part of the group of anglers in the Northwest who pioneered the new Skagit style of Steelheading with two-handed rods.

**His book, 'A Pasion for Steelhead', is a must for all who are interested in improving their skills with a Spey rod.

If you want to really learn some great tactics for fishing Steelhead with a two-handed rod this is the class for you.

This is our third year for this class with Dec Hogan.

Dec Hogan guided for over 20 years in the Northwest United States, mostly for Steelhead and helped pioneer two-handed fly fishing too.

**He has a great new book, "A Passion for Steelhead", which has become one of Kiene's top selling books now.

You can call into Kiene's 7 days a week and reserve you spot on Sunday, May 2, 2010 with a credit card, Visa or MC.

Today was the first day I had since the class to get out with the switch rod and boy was the class worth it. I especialy utilized the reverse snap T with the up stream wind and was very pleased with the results. Thanks for the opportunity Terry!

This was the third year for the Dec Hogan Spey Class for Kiene's Fly Shop here in Sacramento and I finally took the class myself.

Got some really good ideas from Dec.

He showed me some subtle things that really improved my two handed casting.

Dec is all about fishing so casting is just something we need to learn before we can go after those Steelhead.

Thanks Dec for putting on a great class.

Thanks Terry Thomas for organizing the classes again this year.

Thanks Charlie Gonzales for preparing really nice lunches for everyone, right on the river.

Default Photos from Dec Hogan's Spey Class 5/1/10

    Hi Guys and Gals,
Here are some photos from last Saturday's "Spey Class" that Dec Hogan put on at the American River. My husband Dan took the class and I went along to do some photography. I thought you might enjoy seeing some close ups of Dec hogan and his hand positioning on the rod through out his cast. It was a great class and thanks to Dec Hogan and thanks to Charlie Gonzales for providing the delicious lunch!
    Tight Lines everybody!
