    Default Redfish in New Orleans

I'm heading to New Orleans in May. Fishing with Uptown Anglers as a guide. Who's got any advice on a gear, or what to expect?

    Thumbs up Red's....

There're two possibilities where you'll be, The first is flats/marsh fishing in water that could be as thin as 6". The water isn't overly clear but definitely good with a fly. 8 weight rods, floating lines and spoon flies or shrimp patterns, etc. Deeper water may require a slightly heavier rod. The shallow water Redfish will be in the range of 1-6 pounds. In deeper water, they can grow quite large and require a reel with large line capacity and sturdy drag.

Don't know which you'll be targeting but your outfitter should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hope you have a good time and tight lines....
