Default Wading for Stripers in the Lower American River

With the decline/ending of the Shad run the Stripers seem to have gotten hungry and are taking flies well now.

As you know drifting the river in a boat is pretty deadly but I think that many are missing the boat here (ha ha) by not wading for them.

Besides David Lee I know another handful of fly fishers who mostly wade the Lower American River for Stripers.

Paradise Beach, Lower Watt and Sailor Bar are just a few places that are traditional for wading for Stripers.

I think early and late would be best.

Now through September should be very good.

    Lots of smaller fish too.

At 5,000+ CFS, wading is too much work.... I'll stick with the boat

Robins' idea of a tough day wading is a float tube and only one drink holder.
I swear I'll be home by noon this time!!

    Hi Bill--
I'm a fellow wader and have not had the time, due to work, to explore the AR. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of wading spots on the AR for stripper.

    Default AR water flows ????!!!!

Yes bill they Dropped the flows around 2am down to near 2800cfs
then a few hours later they ramped them back to over 5000cfs.....
    ????????????????
I have no idea what they are doing.......

while fishing last night from 3pm if you were watching the bank you could see the water rising.

If you are going to wade be very careful...... and watch the flows.....

Or better yet find a friend with a boat (me) and go get some STRIPES!!!!
the stripes have been on the major grab as of late....
and I am out of work so I am fishing most weekdays from around 3pm till dark and can always use a fishing partner.......

here are a couple of guys that got together and found a few fish
    Paul....
    Tight lines to all
And, to all a good Fight!!!!!
