    Default Heading to Klamath Falls

    Hi All,

I am going to be heading to Klamath Falls for a few days later this week. It will be my first time to the area. I am taking my pontoon boat and am open to lake or stream fishing. I am going to check in with one of the fly shops when I get there, but I know that some on the board fish the area. Does anyone have recommendations as far as access areas, flies, etc. Unfortunately a guide is out of the question. Both me and my wife work for the state and furloughs are straining our finances. I am not looking for someones secret spot just some general advice.

I will be driving up from Sac. Any spots that are must stops along the way?

    Thanks,

    Mark

With a pontoon boat I would head to Rocky Point on Klamath Lake. It is about 25 miles from Klamath Falls. This portion of the lake stays much cooler during the summer because of the cool water flows into Pelican Bay. Would use a clear intermediate line with either black or olive leech patterns stripped in one foot strips with a pause between strips. Free launching and lots of good water very near the ramp.

    Thanks Gordon.

I will give that a try.
