    Default Sacto Valley Grand Slam

Been doing a bit of shad fishing in the Sacto valley rivers of late. I have quite easily managed the Sacto Grand Slam, sucker, squawfish, shad, and stripers! Shad fishing has been quite hit or miss so far for us this year (some 30 fish days and some skunkola's!), but from reports from fishing friends it appears that the shad are finally here in consistent numbers. So I'm now going to get real serious about shad! I love my 7 WT shooting head system, but we've also been having some success on spey rods. As usual, my hot fly is a #6 Wet Pinky, hands down the greatest shad fly ever created!

Cool. Gonna have to give that a try someday as I've yet to try fly fishing for shad.
