    Default Midnight Air Heading

With today being Mothers Day, an early morning striper trip was out of the question. But last night was a full moon and a decent tide so we decided to do a midnight top water session for a couple of hours. It was a little windy but we found some spots to cast that looked like there might be fish. Two grabs one big swirl but only one fish to the boat. Matt Albers caught a nice 7#er ,on a small silver Air Head, that pulled some line and put up a nice tussle. Nice evening, next full moon we'll try it again. Happy Mothers Day.

Kiene's fly shop. 3 sizes. I use all 3 for differnt applications. The small one is great for intermediate or sinking lines. The bigger ones I skate strip along the surface, when done correctly the fly acts like a "Zarah Spook". Verry Cool, works real well.

Years ago (1970s) we use to night fish for Stripers all the time. In fact we did not believe they could be easily caught in the day time with flies with the sun on the water, which has been disproved now.

Legally the lower American River from Hwy 80 bridges (near Cal-Expo) west/down stream is legal 24 hours a day. Or has been for years? You might re-check the Regs.

We liked the mouth of the American River and the mouth of the Feather River at night for Stripers in April/May/June on flies.

Top-water on a full moon in June at the mouth of the Feather River might be the ticket?
