Default Top water action on Lower American River Thursday AM

I just received this email from Maury Hatch:

    __________________________________________________ ______________________________________________

Fished the A.R. this morning for stripers. From first light to 9:30. Caught 2 on top water using a G.Loomis GLX 10 wt. Rio Outbound Short Floater with a Charlies Air Head fly. First drift two big takes, one schoolie landed. Second drift a nice 12 #er came all the way out of the water to eat my fly right at the boat. That is what its all about. I'll wake up every day at 4:30 a.m. to see that.

I would have to think with the fantastic cloud cover and calmness of Thursday as well as today so far, the opportunity to fish the rivers for stripers is as good as it gets!

For those that live 'minutes' away from the 'water' and were/are able to get out at will yesteday or today, more power to you.
