    Here's a link that Rick J found for a Mahalo nymph: http://www.ffcoc.org/html/newsletter...Newsletter.pdf

I've tied some and half-pounders have slammed 'em.

Thanks for the reply. This fly is a mahalo nymph, but the one I'm looking for is a mahalo midge and the only place I know of that sells it is the Reno Fly Shop. I won't be in Reno for some time and would like to tye some............rfish

    Question Mahalo Fly

I've never seen this pattern but from descriptions heard & recipes seen, I'd say tie up some red Copper Johns. They two patterns aren't substantially different.

    Default Maholo

Heres the recipe I use to tie it:

I will try to post a picture later.

    Tail: Pheasant fibers
    Body: red tinsel
rib: gold or copper wire (small)
    wingcase: tinsel or flashback material
    thorax: brown or black dubbing
legs: partridge, pheasant or wood duck.

Pretty sure you have the name wrong. The fly is called the "Maholo Nymph" is used at Pyramid under an indicator as a chironomid pattern. Any brightly colored nymph will work, however.

No reason why you couldn't just call the Reno Fly Shop and ask them for the pattern...
