    Jason--
Thanks for putting on the Switch Rod session last evening--we even had overcast skies and just enough rain to make it feel like steelhead season. It's amazing how far rod design has come the last few years. That little 5/6 wt switch rod is sweet.

    Hope you do it again!

Default Unplanned Dental stuff kept me from driving

Sorry, but after having the Dentist and his tech in my mouth for an hour, I wasn't really up to the event.

What are the specifics re Ian's visit this coming Tuesday.

Hopefully, there will be another Switch Rod Clave event sponsored by Kiene's.

Meet at the Gristmill access on Lower American River @ 6:00pm this next Thursday evening, April 9th.

We will be talking and demonstration how to swing flies for spring-run Half-pounder Steelhead as well.

April/May is prime time for swinging flies for smaller Steelhead.

    Email me any questions.

    Hi GP,

We will have these on a more regular bases.

We will offer to try lots of different lines on people's two handed rods to help them get something dialed in better for them.

Weather was funky but most had on waders and raincoat so no big deal.....

Higher flows (~2,800 cfs) should bring in more spring-run Steelhead, Stripers and Shad now.

I think you will be able to catch Half-pounders into June.

Stripers are from April through October in the river.

    Shad are usually May/June.

    Hi Bill and Jason,

I wish I could have made it last night. When I got home last night there was a cardboard tube at my front door. It contained a BIIX 7 wt switch rod. I sure would have like to tried out some of those new lines on it.

Thanks for putting that on guys. I got some great pointers, and I'm glad now that I didn't try to dive in straight to fishing with my new setup. Would've been an exercise in futility. As it was, even after personalized help, I still suck! Of course it's all the equipment and not my skillz... (Okay, I'm fooling myself)

I'm hoping a new line will precipitate "the click".

    SHig,

It was nice to meet you last night. Keep working on your stroke and remember to keep it slow and smooth. If you ever want to try any lines on that rod feel free to call me at the shop and we can go out and find a few lines that are a perfect fit for your spey rod. Take care.
